Joining "The Club" . . .

The Mommy Club that is! So, surprise we're going to have our first baby, now who's supposed to send me my membership card??? The hazing won't be bad . . . will it?

I'm just starting my 15th week and the baby is due in January. John and I are both super excited! It still doesn't feel quite real. Whenever I tell someone I'm expecting, I kinda feel like I'm lying! I'm sure once my belly starts getting big and I can feel the baby move it will start sinking in!!! I did have some mild hazing in my first trimester, but nothing too terrible. Mostly constant nausea, but I didn't throw up, and exhaustion. I've been so tired, but I'm finally starting to get some energy back. Other than that, so far so good. John has been so great. He was doing pretty much all the house work because of my lack of energy and he only complained a tiny bit! I'm finally able to start picking up my share again, so he's getting some relief.

Ok, so the story of how we found out. It was two days before our beach trip with Nick and Jess. We were at the store getting snacks for the ride and I decided I wanted to get a pregnancy test and take it before we went. I wanted to check in case I needed to stay out of the sun and other stuff expecting mom's have to look out for. Usually John complains about that because pregnancy tests are so expensive. He didn't care this time though, because he said he had a feeling it would be positive. I'm thinking yeah right, but don't say anything because i really want that test! The past few days I was getting up early for work to make up for the hours I would miss on vacation, so I was up at 6am taking that test. Of course I expected a negative, but John was right and I saw two lines appear. I was still all bleary eyed and tired, so I had to rub my eyes and flip on all the lights in the bathroom. The second line was really light so I wasn't completely sure . . . I went to wake John up and get a second opinion. Anyone who has been around John when he is sleeping knows how hard it is to get him up. I said, "Um, I took that pregnancy test and I think it says I'm pregnant but the line is really light." He kept his eyes closed and said "I knew it". This annoyed me, so I told him to get up and look at it. He grumbled because he was so tired asking why I took the test so early in the morning, but he got up and looked at it and then sat there while I read through the whole instructions and sure enough it was positive! Then we hugged and talked a few minutes and then he went back to sleep and I went into the library and logged into work. Of course I couldn't concentrate on work. I started looking up baby stuff online!!! Later that morning, once he was up and his usual obnoxious self, he came into the library singing "I see some ladies tonight that should be having my baby" . . . typical.

So the next day we went on our trip to Florida. We decided we weren't going to tell anybody for awhile. John thought we should tell Nick & Jess since we were going to be with them all weekend, but I was just 4 weeks, barely pregnant, and I really didn't want to tell anyone. I mean anything could happen. Well, it proved to be too big a secret to keep so soon after we found out ourselves. John told me to just do everything that Jessie did and he was asking Jessie a bunch of questions about her pregnancy. We were barely in our hotel room when we discussed it again. I said they are going to know anyways because of all the questions you are asking and they are going to notice when I don't stay out in the sun or go in the hot tub later. So we went to their room and told them we had something to tell them. Then Jessie shouts out "You're pregnant!" Hahahaha, so they were the first to find out and they promised not to tell anyone. Well, it looks like they kept the secret because as far as I know the news never got out. Good job you guys!!!

Yes, we are super excited and a little nervous at the same time, but it is going to be a great addition to the Haralson family. I can't wait for Angie to get large with child so I can rub coco butter on her belly.

Omg, I'm married to such a goofy guy! If he mentions the phrase "with child" one more time, I will lose it. Oh, and we'll see how much rubbing he does. I can barely get a back or a foot rub now, but maybe he'll feel sorry for me when I'm large and in charge!

Oh my gosh! Congrats you guys! We knew you would get sucked in sooner or later. Before you know it you'll have a litter of kids and wonder how it happened! Well, I guess you would know how it happened but you know what I mean!:)

I forgot to ask, are you going to get the floating baby widget for the blog? :)

I KNEW IT! Well--I've only known it for a few days because I read your comment on Jessie's blog that said, "there was no way I could go for a ride in the mountains right now!" I said to myself--"SHE'S PREGNANT!"
Ohhhhhh yaaaaa--I am experienced in the with-child lingo. wink*wink*
I am super excited for you guys:)

Yes, no more being jealous of......I mean congratulations on officially announcing the news! Your life will never be the same, especially for John!!!

And I don't know if I heard the story about John sleeping through this!! You should've put that pee stick in his nose to wake him up!

I don't know what it is about your blog but I think of the best things to say when leaving comments!! Pee stick up his nose is awesome!

Also, it won't feel real until you're leaving the hospital driving 5 mph home b/c you think you'll break the baby if you go around a corner too fast! That's when it became real for me! Perhaps it becomes real for the mother a little bit sooner? Like when you go through the whole mucus plug thing. If I went through something like that I think it would be feeling pretty real!! Disgusting!!!!

Ewwww! You had to go there. There are some things I just don't want to think about yet!

I was wondering if anyone would catch that comment on Jessie's blog :)

I may do the floating baby widget. I think they are kinda creepy, but I'm too excited not put something out there!!!

OMG!!!! You guys have no idea the pressure that I was feeling to keep it a secret and it took
F-O-R-E-V-E-R.....for you to start telling everyone!!! I feel like a ton of bricks have been lifted from my shoulders. But, I am very glad that you told us sooner!!!! Because I would have died just now finding out!!!

We always talked about having kids at the same time and I am so glad that it is true and we are pregnant together!!!! YAY!!!!
We are pregnant buddies and will have a baby at the same time.....
couldn't have been better timing.
This is awesome!!!!

BTW....Nick that is HI-LARIOUS about the pee stick up John's nose..my husband is the funniest!!!

One more thing....we are so dumb I can't believe that we didn't catch on to all of John's questions!!
I think it is b/c John always ask questions and that is why I didn't think anything about it....

and sorry that I never actually let you tell us before I screamed it out!!!

YAY! And I'm so glad that the 1st tri wasn't too bad. The 2nd tri TOTALLY rocks...for John too, wink, wink! Are you going to find out if "bambino" is a boy or girl? I VOTE WAIT!!!! And I also say keep the baby names to yourself, and just name the little sweetheart. That way, you won't get people's input on YOUR childs name. That's what I'm going to do next time. I really am thrilled for you guys, and this couldn't have happened to better people!! Congratualations!!!

I think the floating babies are a little creepy too. Try lilypie.com they have some cute baby ticker thingys.

Angie said...

Thanks, that lilypie.com site does have some cute ones.

We are definitely going to find out if it's a boy or a girl. I am way too impatient to wait. Maybe on the next one!

That's a great idea about keeping the name to ourselves. People can be so judgmental sometimes. :) We might have to go ahead and stake our claim on a name though. There are soooo many people pregnant right now. Two of John's sisters, my friend Jessie, two of my co-worker's wives, at church Jaymi, Carmen, Diana, Tara. That's 9 unless I forgot someone! I could just take Devin's advice and name it Kellie-Devin after my two favorite young women. LOL!

Candi said...

I really am excited for you two!! But, I am so out of the loop ... I didn't know Jaymi is pregnant! There are so many pregos, I feel like I need to get pregnant too!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Ya'll are going to be great parents. I remember when I was pregnant with katharyn and John would rub my belly as a teenager. Nick wouldn't even LOOK at my belly. CRAZY!!! we are so happy for you...

Jennifer Ricker said...

congratulations:-) i noticed that comment on jessie's blog, so i asked her today and she told me the great news was on your blog. it does feel like a club when you're not in it, and it really helps to have other moms who have kids your same age. just remember that you are the parents and do what feels right to you. every kid is different and soon you will regret every time you said, "my kid will never"... (this is nick's cousin btw) and i can't believe nick said "MP" - i don't even like to think of that!!

Nick said...

So....why did John want me to look at the blog today? What was so urgent. The only thing different that I see is the template that your using. Is that what you were so excited about, the flowers on your blog now? I thought it was going to be cool pictures or something?

Angie said...

I made that header last night. I guess he is proud of my work . . . Aw!

Hey, it's better than that crazy second song on your playlist. What was so cool about that???

Jessie said...

Thank you Angie!!! He wanted to put it first on the blog and I would NOT let him....the song sucks!!

Nice work John. Very nice.

So Nick and Jessie weren't supposed to tell anyone about the pregnancy? Then why did Nick call me while they were still in Florida and break the news??
