Six Word Memoirs

I came across this book, "Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure" by Larry Smith and Rachel Fershleiser and thought it was a great idea.

The author said the idea came from Hemingway when he proved that an entire story can be told using only 6 words: "For Sale: baby shoes, never worn." The memoirs range from funny, inspiring, and sad. Here are a few: "Found true love, married someone else." sounds like Wuthering Heights. "Followed white rabbit; became black sheep." A few famous ones: Stephen Colbert ~ "Well, I thought it was funny." Mario Batali ~ "Brought it to a boil, often."

Isn't this a great way to capture your feelings at different times in your life? So come up with your own six word memoir and share it or at least write it down for yourself! I had a hard time thinking of mine, but I think this will do for now: "Increasing in age, decreasing in maturity."

If you want hear more, check out the beginning of this youtube video. It shows different six word memoirs.

"Wife won't cook, let's eat out"

I hope that "won't" counts as one word.

This was hard and I am not good at these but I came up with two that pretty much sums up my life.

"Quit my job, still always tired"
"I need to take a nap"

I know I'm late on this, but I just read it and I had to give it a shot. I couldn't stop at one, so I wrote 10:

1. Just six words? Let me think…

2. Gangsta turned family man… for life.

3. Traveled far. Hung hat. I’m home.

4. Hardcore adrenaline junkie, married; now soft.

5. Grabbed life by horns, let go.

6. School, family, job… check, check, check.

7. Waking up is hard to do.

8. Nice, clean cut, friendly… but really?

9. Never said never, probably should have.

10. Just two words: keep it real.

If I had to chose just one, it would be number 3.
