Name Dilemma

It's awkward for me to tell people the names that we are thinking about for the baby. I'm not sure why, I guess it's just because I never know how they will respond. I've had people in the past make fun of names that I like, way before I was even pregnant, so I'm especially wary now! Also, the name I like might be the same name that the other person was planning for their future kids, so that can be awkward too!!! Yeah, prankster Nick tried to pull that one on me this weekend. He and John tried to set me up, I guess to see what my reaction would be!

Well, because a dilemma has come up this week, due to John's Grandma, I thought I would go ahead and take a risk and share our top pick. So, the name Brayden is at the top of our list for the first name. The middle name is where we have the dilemma. John talked to his Grandma this week and she said that it would be really nice if we used his Grandpa's name (Walter or Edward) in the baby's name. His Grandpa passed away almost a year ago and we know it would mean a lot to Grandma. Grandpa's first name, Walter, is too old school to me. Edward is okay, but John thinks everyone will think that we named him after the character in the Twilight Book Series! Also, we were thinking of going with a Japanese middle name, since my mom gave me a Japanese middle name. It has also been hard finding a Japanese word that we like that goes with the name. The only one we have come up with so far is Saiai which means "Beloved". So we could name the baby Brayden Edward Haralson or Brayden Saiai Haralson . . . or we can just start over from scratch! Anyone have any advice . . .

I love Brayden! I say, go with Edward. When it's a boy, and the first one at that, I think it should follow the tradition of the father's family. You can always do a Japanese name with the second baby. (if you are planning on having a second baby??) With us, Annagrace has my middle name for her middle name. And we would have gone with Tyler's middle name if we had a boy. And we will still do so when/if we have a boy

no one in a year will even think about edward for twilight, and plus its more of a common name anyways so i dont think you will have to worry. I like brayden edward. its all up to you though. If someone doesnt like your name, screw 'em as long as you love it go for it.

The best thing about being a mom is when you see your baby you will know what to name him. It's this little miracle that happens. You hear the name and you'll know it's right.

I like both names.
Though you would win the heart of grandma with Edward.

:) Good luck

Angie....if you really want my honest opinion here it goes. I think you should name the baby......Jorge Haralson (pron.'Hor-hay' just in case John forgot his spanish).....that would be AWESOME! :)

Okay...for reelz...I love, love, love Brayden Edward I think that it is GREAT name!!
But I also think that you can't go wrong with a japenese name either. I also don't think people will think about the Twilight series either. You never hear the middle name anyways. You know that Nick and I are both very fond of family names so you can't go wrong either way!!

Who knows I might have to steal Brayden Edward. How does Brayden Edward Bettes sound? ....ha ha :)

I absolutely love the name Brayden!! I think Brayden Edward is wonderful. I encourage you to have a Japanese middle name also. I think it's important to remember your heritage. How does 2 middle names sound?? I know it makes for a long name but I could sound quite beautiful. I love the middle name-Saiai and the meaning!! John's name means Beloved of God. Brayden Edward Saiai Haralson--How does that sound?? Bottom line--you guys can pick the name that feels just right for your little boy!! MOM

I agree with Nick just because he made me LOL. Do whatever feels right. Don't feel obligated to anyone though...he's your boy. We knew our little one's name was Emmalee because it just came to us and felt right. It was a weird "Yea, that's the name!" kinda feeling. Anyway, good luck!

Hey there you guys....I like both names but why limit yourself to a first and a middle name...why not give him two middle names...all the more meaningful. Brayden Edward Saiai Haralson? It's a very strong sounding name. That's my idea. See ya....

Hey, so I have never spoken to you--which I feel really bad about. I am often busy chasing my little monsters around, but yesterday I was standing RIGHT next to you and still didn't talk to you. I'm sorry. I meant to tell you that I really like your magenta highlights! Also, one thought--you can give your little boy as many names as you want. My brother is Trace Elias Alexander because my parents had the same dilemma. And to be honest, since no one uses middle names very often it doesn't end up being much of a mouthful. But the longer name looks kind of cool on paper. :) Good luck!

I like Brayden. I graduated with a girl and we both had girls and they were both named Sydney and spelled the same. We even had a combo shower celebrating the "TWO" Sydney's. I talked to her less than ten times since graduation. Take you name you like and run with it to the hospital!!! CONGRATS by the way also! Yeah!!!

Hi Angie - My name is Peggy Minus and I went to school in Atlanta with Walter Ed Haralson. I'm trying to locate classmates for our 30th reunion. I see where your father-in-law died, however. Do you know if he went to South West High School? You have a beautiful baby! Peggy
